HIV and hepatitis B testing during outreach, with quick referral to treatment
Members were offered HIV and hepatitis B tests and information on PrEP and PEP. Anyone diagnosed with HIV was referred straight away to start treatment.
During our outreach visits, MASYAP offered members:
- HIV testing, so they know their status
- Hepatitis B testing
- Information on PrEP and PEP, medicines that prevent HIV infection
Members diagnosed with HIV were referred immediately by our testing provider to the nearest government hospital to start treatment without delay. Acting quickly like this is vital to reducing the impact of HIV in our community.
