Youth camp 2025: “Safe spaces, strong girls”
Adolescent girls spent four days at Mai Halima Secondary School in Mulanje building confidence, leadership and awareness of their rights.

From 24 to 27 December 2025, MASYAP held a youth camp for adolescent girls at Mai Halima Secondary School in Chisitu, Mulanje district. The camp gave girls knowledge, confidence and life skills at a time of year when they often face more social risks.
Its theme was “Safe spaces, strong girls”: the importance of places where girls feel physically and emotionally secure. The Guest of Honour, Sister Marriam James, encouraged the girls to stay focused, disciplined and committed to their goals.
What the camp offered
Through structured sessions and mentoring, the girls could speak freely, build friendships and learn from trusted female role models. The camp focused on confidence, leadership and resilience, and on awareness of their rights, including gender-based violence and making their own decisions.
