Microfinance training for vulnerable women and young mothers
Business and loan management training helped participants make better financial decisions, and several have started or grown businesses since.

MASYAP’s microfinance training gives vulnerable women and young mothers the skills to manage a business and a loan, helping them become financially independent.
Aims
- Teach basic business management
- Explain how to manage a loan well
- Improve financial literacy and encourage enterprise
How it works
- Who takes part: women and young mothers chosen for their need and for how active they are in their support groups, prioritising those with limited education or access to finance.
- What is covered: financial planning, budgeting, market research, developing products and services, and understanding loan terms.
- How it is taught: experienced trainers use case studies, group discussions and practical exercises. MASYAP works with a qualified trainer to deliver the sessions.
Results
- Tests before and after the training showed a clear improvement in understanding, and participants were more confident making financial decisions.
- Several participants have started or expanded businesses since the training, and they support each other through a growing network.
- Participants report higher incomes and more financial stability, and are managing their loans well.
MASYAP monitors the programme to track its long-term impact, and hopes to expand it to reach more women and young mothers.
