Microfinance and women’s empowerment
Empowering women means education, training and the means to make their own decisions. MASYAP’s loans give women financial independence and support their families.
Empowering women means valuing and seeking out their views, and raising their status through education, awareness, literacy and training. It gives women the ability to make decisions that shape their lives and, in turn, the freedom to redefine traditional roles and pursue their goals.
MASYAP gives its members all of these, including financial support. The microfinance programme:
- helps women run small businesses with their loans
- helps them meet their families’ basic needs and pay their children’s school fees
- encourages more women to join the support groups
- gives members financial independence and brings out their hard-working spirit
