Four more women’s support groups launched in Zomba
MASYAP has started four new women’s groups in Zomba district, bringing HIV testing, youth mentoring and microfinance to rural women.
Women are the gateway to household security. They generally invest more than men in the family’s welfare, including education, health care, clothing, shelter and household items, and they are more careful savers, protecting themselves and their families against hard times. This makes women the right focus for reducing poverty and maximising the social impact of development.
For these reasons, MASYAP works to improve the lives of vulnerable women in rural areas, including by strengthening them financially through our microfinance programme.
Four new groups
MASYAP has now launched four new women’s support groups in Zomba district. The new members have been introduced to all of MASYAP’s programmes for women and girls affected by HIV/AIDS, including HIV testing services, youth mentoring and microfinance.
