Quarterly meeting for youth group chairladies
Youth chairladies met to update their HIV knowledge, hear about new programmes and share the challenges and initiatives of their groups.
MASYAP holds a meeting for the chairladies of its youth groups every quarter, and they attend in large numbers.
The meeting aims to
- Give the chairladies accurate information about HIV/AIDS and MASYAP’s objectives
- Update them on new programmes
- Learn how the groups run when office staff are not present
- Address the challenges young people face in their groups
What the groups do themselves
The chairladies described activities their groups organise on their own, such as donating basic items like soap and sugar to hospitals and prisons, and caring for elderly people in their communities. They asked the office to support these activities, as they help keep members active.
